Q1. What is the objective of the Singapore Employability Skills System (ESS)?
A1. ESS prepares people for careers by offering training in essential skills needed at the workplace. These skills are relevant and can be used in any industry. This helps people remain employable in an ever-changing economy. Employers and industry associations helped WDA develop the ESS. This means the skills identified are important in establishing the effectiveness of the workers at any workplace.


Q2. Who is WDA?
A2. The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). WDA leads tand drives workforce development in Singapore. Its mission is to enhance the employability and competitiveness of employees and job seekers, thereby building a workforce that meets the changing needs of Singapore economy.

Q3. What are some of the topics covered in the ESS Workplace ICT course?
A3. Amongst others, the topics covered includes using electronic storage media, ICT tools and machines, emailing, MS Word and MS Excel.

Q4. What is the duration of the ESS Workplace ICT course?
A4. The course duration is 24 hrs.


Q5. Will there be any Certificate be issued at the end of the course?
A5. After successful completion and assessment of the course, trainees will receive a formal recognition through the award of an SAO. The SOA is a nationally recognised qualification indicating the participants' ability or competence in Workplace ICT. This means that the participant is certified by WDA as being able to perform a task appropriate to his occupational level and work demand.
